My Students
I teach elementary school language arts, science, math, and social studies. My school is a Title I school, composed of predominantly African American students from low-income families. Most of our students qualify for free meals.
I have 22 amazing students this year.
My students are very excited about coming to school and learning because I strive to make my classroom a positive and nurturing environment where they will thrive. Twenty of my students are African-American, and two are Hispanic. Regardless of their home environment and challenges that they face outside of school, I want them to feel as if their future knows no boundaries, and they can achieve all that they aspire to.
My Project
Time is an extremely precious commodity in the classroom. I want to help my students maintain focus on the task at hand. With 22 students, it is vital that all necessary tools are available for a smooth running classroom. When students have to wait in line to have their pencils sharpened, instructional time is lost.
To help us maximize time on task, my students need pencils and working electric pencil sharpeners available to them.
My students come ready to learn and work each day. The less time we waste waiting for a turn at the pencil sharpener, the more time we can invest in the exciting learning experiences.
