My classroom is filled with 27 eager and enthusiastic second graders. As their second grade teacher, I owe it to them to provide them with nothing but the best learning opportunities. I teach in a small neighborhood school in the city of Chicago. The kids in my class are not only my students, but they are also my neighbors. We consider ourselves as part of a team both at school and around the neighborhood. We spend our day working together to explore new ideas and fine tune our previously honed skills.
The 27 second graders in my room are always ready to make an all-star play in the classroom.
I can count on them to assist others and follow the rules. I can always depend on them to try their hardest, complete their assignments, and use their newly learned skills at all times. I could not ask for a harder working team to spend my year with.
My Project
Please help me get these novels into my students' hands while they are trying to learn from home. My students need these books so that we can continue working on the skills needed to succeed in school moving forward. These books will give my students something constructive to do while they are staying safe at home. Learning can be difficult for kids; especially when they have to look at a computer or tablet screen all day. These books will help to keep my class connected during the school shut down. They will enable us to practice the literacy skills they need to be successful learners after this pandemic is over.
