Our school is in a rural area that depends on agriculture. We are a consolidated district serving students from five small communities. Our school isn't in a town--it's in the middle of pasture land and fields, so all of our students ride the bus or drive to school.
Our rural school has over 50% of students receiving free and reduced-priced meals.
I am continually looking for ways to engage the students in creative and relevant activities to spark their creativity.
My Project
Students in my journalism class film short news feature and sports videos. Professionals record movies on expensive steady cam equipment that allows the viewer to have a great experience. Students record everything with our own hands, which leads to shaky video footage and makes it look like it was recorded by amateurs.
My students lack the equipment to record just like the pros.
This equipment will allow my students to make fast-tracking movements down the hallway and in the gym without losing the quality of video. The equipment will also allow students to film school events with very creative movements and effects as the stabilizers will give students the ability to record in ways that they have never experienced. This will make them more well-rounded video creators.
