My students need flexible seating options like Bouncy Bands and Wobble Chairs which allow them to work and learn in various places around the classroom all while fostering creativity and critical thinking skills through movement on wiggle chairs and yoga balls.
My third grade students are in desperate need of some flexible seating options. Currently, the students are limited to sitting at their desks or on the hard floor. With 30 students in my classroom, there are not many desk arrangements that allow for quiet, independent work zones.
With wiggle chairs, yoga balls, Big Joe chairs and so much more, students will have the option and ability to sit in a location that best suits their learning needs in a comfortable way.
My Project
I am striving to meet the needs of my students by allowing them to have flexible seating choices to enhance and support their learning styles. Currently, my students have the choice to move around the classroom during independent work time. They can work at a few tables in the classroom, their desk, or on the floor. With 30 students in class, it is essential that students can find their own learning space that best suits their learning needs all while being comfortable. I have noticed a substantial difference of on task behavior, a new found commitment to learning, easier collaboration with peers, and overall enjoyment of being at school all because they are given a choice in their seating.
Flexible seating allows students the option to make choices that work best for them and allows them to take charge of their learning.
The products that I have selected will make a strong, positive impact on my students because additional seating options give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them. The wobble chairs allow students a range of movement to help them focus and get energy out. Similarly, yoga balls allow for movement and bouncing on them also helps keep students on task and focused as it requires them to balance. The Big Joe chairs allow students to get comfortable as if their were learning in a "home" environment. Students love to curl up with a good book in these oversized chairs. In addition, with more and more kids having an inability to focus or having sensory needs, the chair bands and wiggle cushions are just what they need!
Overall, with flexible seating options, students will finally have a choice that allows them to take control of their learning in the most successful way!
