Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 5th grade at a Title I, K-8 span school. All of our students are eligible for free breakfast, lunch, and supper. Our students' families know the importance of education and strive for their children to succeed. The students in my classroom are energetic and come to school every day ready to learn and grow their thinking. Together, our school works on building a love of learning and sense of community, among other things, year after year. The motto of our school is "Awesome Takes Practice," which is something that my students work daily. They understand that in order to succeed or to get better at something, they need to put in the time and practice at it daily.
My Project
My students have many resources that they use throughout the day. From their workshop notebooks and journals to their daily reading books, they need a place to store it all. We are looking to become a flexible seating classroom this next school year, allowing students to choose seats that they feel they can work at comfortably each day.
Rather than emptying out desks each day, we are looking to get a class set of book bins and a new bookshelf to store the students' daily materials.
These new resources will be very beneficially to our class this year and in the future to implement a flexible seating room!
