Help me give my students the opportunity to use their creativity and fine motor skills with the friendship bracelets and rubber bands with the loom. They will also use problem-solving and teamwork skills with the board games!
I teach 15 third grade students in a small, rural, Title I school with varied backgrounds and experiences.
During the winter months in Upstate NY we tend to spend many days indoors for recess due to the cold and I like to use this time for my students to play, problem solve, socialize and use their creativeness!
As my students use technology in different aspects of learning, it is not usually something that is used during recess. My students prefer hands-on games and time to create different things that interest them.
My Project
These games will help not only keep my students entertained while we are cooped up indoors, but also continue to allow them to learn and grow with their peers. My students have a lot of energy and enjoy all sorts of hands-on activities. These items will allow them to be excited about recess as they continue to practice following directions, working as a team and allowing themselves to create different things.
Recess is such a vital part of our school day.
Having these resources will help them take a break and use their minds in a different way. All of the items have been chosen with my students' interests in mind, based on what they do during free time. There is something for everyone!
I am so excited to see my students' faces when they receive these games and activities that will aid in many skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, following directions and of course, creativity!
