Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my kindergarten classroom are from a low socioeconomic area in a rural town in southwestern Arizona. We are located close to the border of Mexico. Some students are English language learners and children of military families. They are curious about everything around them. But many of them lack educational support away from the classroom.
My kindergarten students are eager to be 21st-century students learning with a curriculum that promotes and supports science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.
My favorite quote is a Chinese proverb: "Do not confine our children to your own learning, for they were born in another time."
My Project
Kindergarten students are working hard to learn and stay focused on their academics during this pandemic. They are using their iPads to join meetings online. Some are learning 6 feet apart in the classroom and others are learning remotely from their homes. It is tough trying to keep these youngest learners on task and undistracted.
Headphones are part of the student supply list and they are used with the iPads to eliminate distractions and help keep the kindergarten students focused on their online lessons.
Some students have broken their personal headphones, tangled their earbuds, and are in need of replacement headphones. Having a supply of headphones available for my students would eliminate disruption in their daily education.
