Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are from low-income families where school isn't always the priority. They know that school is their way out of their situation so they do everything they can to learn at school.

My school is filled with students who love experiencing school, not just learning.

They love hands-on activities and being able to do things. The students work hard and love to share what they are learning with the community. These students haven't been able to experience many things that are part of life for other children.

My Project

A subscription to a science magazine will make learning more current for my students. Textbooks cannot keep up in science so much of what is in science textbooks is no long current. Science magazines are able to tell the students what was discovered yesterday or last week.

The students will be able to read the magazine in class and will take it home to share the information in the community.

The community will benefit from this project as much as the students. Many adults in our community don't have the ability to learn about current events in science so these magazines will help everyone.
