This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are autistic students who have a love for technology and sports. I currently have 40 students in my two special education classes. The students in my classroom are vibrant, excited, and eager to learn. They come from a low income, high poverty school district. Many parents are not able to provide the life experiences that many of us would see as “typical.” It is my honor to educate these students, and I always strive to provide the best educational experiences.
"Energetic" and "excited to learn" is the best way I can describe my students.
The majority of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our school has been categorized as one of the lowest 300 schools in the state.
My Project
My students need two tents to use during their track and field competitions. They will use these tents to keep cool during our track and field competitions. They will not have the sun beating down on them during the competitions. We will have their drinks and food under these tents. We do not have a gym or multi-purpose room. These tents are portable and lightweight which is great for travel.
We will use these tents often since our competitions are at least 5-6 hours long.
We need shade tents to help protect the students from the heat of the sun.
The shade would provide an area for the students to go and cool down while they aren't competing. It will really help motivate the students if they could get a break from the heat of the sun.
