Hard working and high achieving students don't always receive the resources/challenges/attention that they deserve. This group of approximately 100 third through sixth grade enrichment students have displayed their high work ethic and ability in language arts, science, mathematics, and technology. As their enrichment teacher, it is my job to keep the level of interest and motivation high for these students and allow them opportunities for success.
The school has purchased "Classroom Jeopardy" which has grabbed the attention of all of our enrichment students. They find it motivating, fun, and interesting, and it has shown to be an incredibly effective and valuable tool for me as a teacher. I'm able to program the game with the exact skills that we are working on to find out what knowledge the students are able to display and what we still need to work on before summative assessments. The only obstacle is that we have to work in groups of three or four students per team which decreases the number of students that are always meaningfully engaged during the game.
The solution for a higher percentage of student engagement is more student remotes and an extra scoreboard. This will decrease the number of students per team, make students more accountable for participation, and allow me to further assess individual student skills.
Your contribution towards this proposal will benefit a very large group of students not only this school year, but for many more to come. These are the students who have shown great interest in taking advantage of educational opportunities that are provided to them. We should recognize their efforts and put forth our best effort to help them be even more successful. Thank you very much for your interest in student growth and achievement!
