Help me give my students Kleenex tissues, Lysol disinfectant wipes, and Glade plug-in refills to keep our classroom fresh and clean and our students healthy.
I teach about 100 scientists-in-training in a Title I school where the majority of my students need additional resources to be successful—but this does NOT diminish their excitement to learn; they are smart, capable, and have a true love of learning through real experiences. The economic challenges do, however, have an impact on what my students have available to help them learn—especially outside of the classroom.
I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, small-group learning and alternative seating options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are; I am always looking for ways to keep students engaged, while building critical thinking and problem-solving skills for future careers in STEM fields.
Many of my students experience trauma; some experience homelessness. Despite these trials, my students come to school each day ready to learn and start fresh. School is their safe haven. I strive to provide a safe, comfortable, homey learning environment for all my students, regardless of need or ability.
By doing so, I hope to inspire the students to come to school each day and make their day in science class the “best day ever"!
My Project
It is time to start thinking about the new school year! My students will need some basics to keep our classroom clean and our students healthy. Though some of these supplies are on the recommended list sent home for families, many of my students are unable to start the year with said items due to financial limitations.
Every classroom needs basic supplies like Clorox sanitizing wipes, Kleenex tissues, and Glade plug-in refills--and I want to be prepared as we kickoff the new year.
We all have the occasional runny nose--whether it be from a cold or the ever-present allergens in the Midwest; because of this, it is important that we have lots of tissues! Also, being a science classroom, it is imperative that we sanitize regularly after labs and experiments--especially because I do have students that eat breakfast in my classroom regularly. Lastly, the Glade plug-in refills will help keep our classroom smelling fresh and welcoming, no matter what temperature the St. Louis weather throws our way!
These items will be sure to benefit my classroom, keep my students healthy and comfortable in our classroom, and keeping them coming to school ready to learn. Thank you for your time and considering a donation to support my scientists-in-training!
