This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
In our classroom, we have 22 wonderful students. I love what each student brings to my classroom. I have a group of students who are always interested in new things, up for a challenge, and strive to make learning fun.
We are a fourth grade class full of active, curious, and loving individuals.
My fourth graders love using technology, movement breaks, and activities the involve working in groups or moving around the room. This active bunch of students will make you laugh and remind you everyday of why you love to teach.
My Project
As a first year teacher, I am trying to support the variety of learners in my classroom. To accommodate a very active student, we have a ball seat for him to bounce on while he completes his school work. The ball seat has helped this student tremendously with focus and participation. Other students have found interest and comfort in the ball seat when the student in my class is not using it.
To support all of my learners, I would love to have the opportunity for each of my students to be able to experience flexible seating.
Flexible seating will help my students practice making responsible decision. Students can pick seating that works best for them individually to increase their focus and participation. Students will be able to stay active while they learn by bouncing, fidgeting, or wiggling while also staying on task.
