"Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent." ~Victor Hugo
My students not only love music, they LIVE music. They have worked hard the past year raising funds to replace outdated and unrepairable equipment, but they are still lacking stands to place them on.
We live in a rural area in Florida.
We are very proud and patriotic. Our diverse population includes military families as well as farmers.
Band plays a huge role in the lives of my students. In fact, there are many weeks they spend 20-30 hours practicing, performing, and traveling. Our drumline is award winning, yet we do not have national sponsors, which leaves us without many necessities such as basic stands for our drums.
Our members try not to complain, but you can see the pain in their faces as the night goes on with their instruments attached. Some of these drums weigh up to 60 pounds!
My Project
These stands will provide the kids a much needed break during stadium performances, as well as during rehearsals. Recently, with deep budget cuts in our state, funding has not been available for bands to travel to away games. As a result, during home games our band has to play without breaks.
The ladies and gentlemen on the drumline are wiped out, but because they are so committed they continue to play. I would like to add that they often perform in 90+ degree weather! These stands will give them some relief because they can continue to play without the burden of excess weight.
Please help me help my kids by providing them with a necessity that our budget does not allow for.
Your generous gift will allow the kids to continue to perform in the stands, but with a lot less discomfort. I would love the opportunity to give them what they have been begging for the past five years.
