Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a Speech/Language Pathologist with Chicago Public Schools in the Pilsen neighborhood, many of my students are bilingual and come from low income homes. Together, we work on a wide range of Speech and Language skills and tackle a wide range of needs from mild speech sound disorders to severe communication needs due to developmental delays, learning disabilities, hearing loss, and/or Autism. My students are all amazing individuals and have such high potential but need access to specialized materials to help them learn.
My Project
I need new materials and games such as Sneaky Squirrel Game and More Feelings in a Jar, that will keep my kids engaged in the activity while still targeting their speech and language goals. The Feelings game, for example, will help my students correctly identify their feelings and share how they feel verbally. These activities are especially geared towards some of my older students that struggle to stay motivated or understand the need for practicing these skills.
With your help, I can keep my students active and excited about coming to Speech/Language therapy sessions and help them meet their goals!
