Our students walk into our classroom every day with their eyes wide open, hearing and feeling every bit of the world around them. Some are unable to express to us how they feel with words and it is our responsibility as teachers to be able to come into their world and teach them.

Our classroom is made up of four highly intelligent, creative children on the Autism Spectrum. We do a lot of hands-on activities and are a STEAM classroom. Our students use technology on a daily basis and absolutely love it. They have the same abilities as mainstream students; however, they learn a little bit differently and need a smaller, quieter, low-lighting room.
Our school is a Title I school that has over 70% of our kids receive free or reduced-price lunches. This economic status along with having Autism makes it hard for our students to receive what they truly need on a daily basis. Even with all of these difficulties, our students love coming to school each day!
My Project
Creativity keeps the mind active and growing! My kindergarten students are very creative and active learners that are on the Autism Spectrum. They sometimes have a difficult time being able to communicate their needs, likes, or that they understand what they are learning. Therefore, having supplies for our Art Center will help them to be able to communicate more effectively. Additionally, my students learn better when they're able to express what they've learned through art.
