My students need headphones to listen to video presentations, edit and revise their writing, and listen to difficult texts using Google Read and Write.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds. They are curious, eager to learn, kind and determined to succeed. Each year, our goal is to prepare our students for an ever-changing world. This year is no different.
At our school, we embrace the idea of being "the change" each student wants to see in the world.
Students understand their roles in our community and by year's end, they come together to address and solve real world issues.
The students' growth is always amazing to witness, and it brings me newfound hope that our next generation will become the leaders we need. Despite struggling with high rates of poverty, language barriers and lack of essential resources, our students still come to school daily with great enthusiasm and a thirst for knowledge.
My Project
Students will be able to engage with interactive websites and other media without disturbing their classmates. Many students also gather information using text to speech software, which allows them to access rich and challenging texts that they otherwise may not be able to read.
My students have become very familiar with a number of web-based programs that require them to listen to directions, gather information and quickly process what they are learning.
At times, students become distracted by their peers when students are accessing information that require sound. The headphones will help alleviate that problem.
Since many of our students are still developing their English language speaking, listening and writing skills, it is vital that they continue to be exposed to a print-rich environment.
