My Students

I am the music teacher at a pre-k/kindergarten school and I teach every student in the school. I believe that music is a valuable part of learning and should be a part of every child's education.

When they come into my classroom, my students' eyes light up!

Due to COVID-19, we will not be able to share our classroom instruments this year. Although they are young, my students have shown that they are curious and creative musicians and I want to make sure their positive musical experiences carry on.

My Project

Music class is tuneful, artful and, most of all, joyful! In a typical music class, we share instruments and materials like rhythm sticks, scarves, and puppets. Rhythm sticks are used to practice steady beat and tempo, scarves are used to explore movement, and puppets are used for imaginary play and fine motor skills.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we will not be able to share instruments and materials necessary for music class.

In order to keep music class as "normal" as possible, I would like to create individual music kits for each student who returns for face-to-face instruction. We will use wooden dowels for rhythm sticks and googly eyes for our puppets. This project will give all face-to-face learners the opportunity to keep the music going!
