Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
While we fight to overcome the effects of the pandemic, teachers are faced with increased pressure to ensure that classroom spaces are safe for students. Safety for students now includes fully sanitized classrooms that are free of germs and other pathogens. Our school, unfortunately, runs out of cleaning product very often and teachers must provide their own. In an impoverished community, these items can be costly and create strain on families already doing their best to make it through one of the toughest financial times in history. As a teacher, it is my job to ensure the space my kids learn in is free from germs as best as possible. Sanitizing products and machinery to remove germs from our entire rug floor where germs love to gather can help prevent sickness and spread.
Supporting this project supports a cleaner, more sanitized classroom for students who should not have to worry about their safety when they are in school or about funding their own cleaning products when they come to school.
I know that I am not the only teacher who places my students' safety above every other priority in the classroom. I want my kids to know that when they enter this classroom, they are in a SAFE space. Not just emotionally and socially, but physically as well.
