This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come to school because every day is a day to become a better person.
My students are 4, 5 and 6-year-olds who are very eager to learn.
Most of them come from low income families with only one parent who is struggling to hold the family together. They struggle academically, have emotional and social challenges, and many suffer from family issues that are out of their control. They live in a neighborhood where two-thirds of family household income is below the federal poverty threshold and resources are not available for them.
My Project
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoyed visiting. I read to them from the rocking chair while they sat on the carpet, they complete their work there, and they read independently!
With these new books ànd classroom magazines, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
With school being closed right now they don't have the leisure of picking any book on their level to read. I have chosen books that I can send to them knowing they will enjoy each and every one of them.
