My Students

My students are an eager and positive group of learners that come from a wide range of backgrounds with a wide range of abilities. We like to work hard, laugh, and stretch our minds, and I'm always looking for new ways to push their thinking.

The diversity in their strengths and interests make for a rewarding school day and really keeps me on my toes.

Their energy and enthusiasm motivate me to make this their most rewarding and successful school year yet.

My Project

Every school year I strive to transform my students into lifelong readers. In our class, this begins on day one as we aim to set an energetic and reverent tone around reading. Yet after the excitement of the new year fades, I have noticed that effort and energy in reading can also fade. As a result, I'm always looking for ways to reignite their enthusiasm. Over the years I have discovered that one of the best ways to jump-start their reading is with new books. The books in this project were selected with my 30 new students in mind, and they cover a range of interests, genres, and styles. I wanted to make sure that each student would have a brand new book to dive into, absorb, review, and share with classmates. The joy and positive energy around reading will be palpable, and I know my students will quickly be back on track in their quest to become lifelong readers.
