In order to keep students learning they need to have the materials to use. We start out the year well equipped for learning. By the end of December you're not quite sure what happened to your supplies but they are in need of being replenished.
We are a title one school located in a beautiful country setting of rolling hills.
The students are excited to enter the room each day to see what they will be working on. It is amazing how quickly we use up pencils and glue sticks. It seems as if they are there on Monday and gone by Friday, sometimes sooner. The students need pencils daily to do their work. As far as erasers go I think someone is eating them. The cap and bar erasers last longer, but we still seem to run out. Glue sticks seem to vanish in thin air. Students use a lot of glue. All of the students come from different backgrounds with different needs when learning.
My Project
The pencils and erasers will be used to complete daily activities and work during the school day. The expo markers students will use on small whiteboards they can work on at their desks. The folders will be used to store the students work in from day to day. We will also use the folders to send home work in for the students. The felt we use for sewing activities. The students love to sew and we have many activities that we can sew crafts with. Glue sticks never seem to last long and we are constantly needing refills. With these materials the students will be able to continue working, and doing crafts along with their reading lessons.
This project will make a difference because the students will have the supplies they need to keep learning and being engaged.
While we are searching for pencils we are wasting time. With a supply of pencils we can keep a bin of sharpened pencils that the students can just go up and grab one to use. Papers will look neater when students have erasers to use instead of just crossing out wrong answers or writing over mistakes. The students can be engaged throughout their day with these supplies.
