Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
If we had a theme song, it would probably be "I like to move it" from Madagascar! I have a class of mostly boys, who are active and eager to play!. They use the most oral language when playing in centers and need motivating, engaging toys!
My students are 3 and 4 years old.
I teach students with disabilities (including Autism, Emotional Disturbance, Cognitive Delays, etc.), and students whose first languages are English, Spanish, and even Arabic. They typically come from low-income homes and 95% of our population is on free and reduced lunch. Our goal is to help shape them into lifelong learners who have a love for themselves and their community.
My Project
My students will use these vehicles to categorize, compare and contrast, identify colors, and most importantly, to play! They can pretend they're community workers in centers, fill the dump truck up with stuff and then DUMP (their favorite part!), and decide which vehicle belongs on land, sea, and air.
These toys are BPA free, eco-friendly, and 100% USA made.
My students will have more high-quality, engaging toys in our classroom. Goodbye old metal and wood trucks, hello recycled materials!
