My Students

My classroom has a very diverse enrollment. Some are first-generation Americans, and a majority of our students are low income/high poverty. Despite their situations, these students are hard workers and strive to become lifelong learners and problem solvers. I strive to give my students as many different exciting educational and problem-solving experiences as possible to build their excitement in education and to expose them to topics that they would not normally encounter. Hopefully, these experiences help create students that are ready to take on an ever-changing future.

My Project

The items in this project will allow the students to upgrade and replace items in the classroom garden that have deteriorated over the last few years. The pumps and tubing will replace the ones that have run for hundreds of hours over the last few years. While the students are engaged in this project, they are working on growing plants and they are also using problem-solving techniques and plotting mathematical data. This is a fun activity for the students but it also allows them to realize where food comes from.
