Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is designed to offer a viable alternative to the traditional high school for students whose needs have not been met in the traditional high school setting. Students respond well to the personalized setting and individualized learning contract approach. We are located in the heart of Silicon Valley so preparing my students for life after graduation is key in my classroom. Students learn skills they can use throughout thier life and share with others. I emphasis critical thinking skills, encourage students to be academic learners, and effective communicators.
My Project
Students come to by class eager and ready to learn. For construction we spend a lot of our time assembling and using our hands and minds to complete assignments and projects. This often leaves students tired and hungry.
By putting a refrigerator and microwave in our classroom I will be able to purchase healthy and nourishing snacks like fruits, vegetables, sandwhiches, etc.
Students will be get the energy and nutrition from their food that is stored in the materials purchased to power them through thier projects. Their motivation and productivity should be at its peak which will lead to happy and more productive students.
