This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in my shop classes are mixed male and female located in a low socioeconomic, rural agricultural area of Arkansas. They are actively participating in the hands-on shop activities that are presented and have mastered many of the skills that are required to be proficient in an area of study.
I believe having current technology safety equipment will be a big boost in obtaining skills in SMAW.
The students have a desire to learn, just need a little bit of help.
My Project
The auto-darkening welding helmets will be used by all students when beginning to learn to weld. They will help the students see their work and the work area clearly when striking an arc and begin the welding process.
This newer technology of auto darkening helmets, the students will learn faster and have more control of the welding process.
By being able to see better, there is less possibility of getting burned in the process.
The older style helmets makes learning harder for the beginning welder and they become frustrated very easy. The newer type of helmet will be a big safety improvement and learning made easier.
