Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teaching in a low-income community comes with its challenges, but my students work through the tough times to come out on top! My students are amazing! They come from such diverse backgrounds, but come together to be one learning community. They are helpful, loving and enthusiastic about learning. My students come from working-class families who put forth as much effort as they can when it comes to their childrens' education. However, this is not always enough for our classroom to have all we need for success.
Third grade is a growing year.
The students in my class have a wide range of abilities and it is my job to help bridge the gap between the cans and the can nots. We work together, as a community, to build each other up and not leave anyone behind. We are all in this together!
My Project
Living in the Midwest, my students spend many winter days indoors for their recess time due to inclimate weather. With these brand new games, this time can be spent building social skills while playing. The games we currently have are on their last legs. They are missing pieces and frankly, are unplayable. We need a game face lift!
We need board games with a purpose!
I would like my students to be able to have a choice of what they do during our indoor recess time. Since most of our winter days are spent indoors, the students need to have activities that keep them happy and working together. Games are the perfect way to spend a cold, snowy recess time.
