I teach in a Title I, low-income school. All of our students receive free breakfast and free lunch. I teach kindergarten inclusion this year and have a class full of students ready to learn! I try to keep all of our activities hands-on and am in need of some new ones to finish up the end of the year and keep the students engaged. When students are engaged, there are fewer behavior issues and they have so much more fun! Who knew learning could be fun?!?
My Project
My students need new math centers. Most come from a low-socioeconomic background with little prior knowledge upon entering kindergarten. They need practice with number sense, patterns, shapes, addition, subtraction, etc. I have found so many new and hands-on activities that can be used for math centers in this project. We do math centers every day, so it is very important to keep the centers updated and changed related to our standards we are teaching. The students absolutely love getting new "games" and at this age, it's very important to keep them engaged while learning. We are constantly changing our centers throughout the year.
