This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from inland and are so excited to be at the ocean studying the creatures that live there. Sometimes it is the first time they have seen the ocean. They are eager for hands-on learning! They have clever minds and pick up quickly on new concepts. They are very energetic and ready to learn.

Their week at outdoor science school is something they will never forget.

For many, it will be a life changing experience, opening their eyes to the natural world around them and it's beauty.

My Project

Students get much more excited about studying nature and science if they can see the animals closely. They squeal with delight and awe when they can watch an otter or a falcon eating its prey.

Using scientific tools like this scope helps them understand how field biologists study these animals.

They will be able to see animals that are at a distance in a way that will engage the student in learning, and encourage them to want to learn more about the natural world around them.

It will open their eyes to new possibilities. It may even encourage them to seek higher education and to consider careers in science as well.
