My class is comprised of 34 students with endless energy, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced-price lunch. They are eager and ready to learn. I teach at a Title I school and my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. We do not have the opportunity to go on field trips as most other kids do or buy the books that they are so wanting to read due to financial constraints. My dream is to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
It is an unusual time for all of us and I want to provide my students with as much resources as I can to keep them learning. One way is to give them books that are interesting and new to them. With these new books, my students will be able to keep on practicing their reading skills and with these new books, my students will be able to have access to books at home that will allow them to read independently at their own phase and will encourage them to keep on reading.
