Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In our room hangs a large, hand-painted sign that reads, "the future of the world is in this classroom." In spite of the adversaries my students face, I have no doubt our future is in good hands. Our classroom has a wide range of learners, each differing in academic abilities and learning styles. My students love to explore topics hands on, experience beyond their world virtually and work though challenging material together. While our students need so much, our funding is limited.
My Project
Students in my district have been quarantined from school for 2 weeks and are not likely to return by the end of the school year. Right now computers are only being handed out to the highschool aged students while my 4th graders are left with packets of worksheets to teach them. Not only do these packets not provide instruction, but they are also boring students to tears, making it less likely to be effective learning.
Young learners using these computers will be able to participate in the engaging, adaptive learning programs to keep their education going.
Using technology based learning while in quarantine, my students will have access to quality math and reading programs designed to teach at their level. This will make distance learning accessible, meaningful and engaging for all my students, not just those fortunate enough to have computers. Please help support our students in this challenging time.
