My students need the tools to stay healthy such as hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, disinfectant spray, and tissues, with a storage ottoman to store them in!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a classroom of six and seven-year-olds in a Title I school that is ninety-four percent free or reduced price lunch. My students and their families live below the poverty level; however, they strive to do their best. Most of my students are struggling emergent readers who don't get to experience a lot of things that other students their age across the country get to experience. I hope to bring as many experiences as possible to my students.
Our classroom is a family that loves and respects each other.
Peer to peer tutoring is accepted and enjoyed. My students love learning from other students in the class. They appreciate help and feel loved when they get that special peer to peer help!
My Project
The first sneeze of the cold season makes me super sad because I know that within a week, our attendance will be decimated by the latest cold germs being spread around.
Basic sanitary supplies will be our shield against the onslaught of bacteria and viruses that will spread like wildfire through our first grade classrooms.
Armed with hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes, hands desks, doorknobs, and other commonly touched areas in the class can be cleaned, helping to insure a zero tolerance zone for germs. The baby wipes will be perfect to wipe little hands and faces!
We're also asking for tissues for sneezes and other messes, but where shall we keep all these wonderful tools for helping the students stay healthy? A small storage ottoman that doubles as a reading area would be perfect to keep these supplies organized.
