I teach students in Grades 3-5. They are all unique and have special qualities. I would like to challenge the students to learn and grow from each other.
One of my goals is to create a safe learning environment where my students will feel as if they are part of a community where they play a major role.
They will be provided with the opportunity to collaborate with one another in my classroom. This will allow them to have ownership in their learning.
My Project
During the recent lava eruptions on the Big Island of Hawaii, many families have been displaced. Schools provide the constant environment that the children need - a place they can go to on a regular basis. Many of the schools are dealing with vog, which is volcanic ash in the air. This causes difficulty with breathing. Often times we need to teach with our windows shut as well as have indoor recess.
Having water bottles and fans in the classroom will allow students to learn comfortably, especially with the heat and the voggy conditions.
Water bottles and fans help students feel energized and ready to learn. My students will be more engaged in the lessons and activities if they are cool and hydrated.
