I love encouraging my students to explore learning opportunities through inquiry and the magic that happens in science. My students are just beginning their middle school transformation from a child to a young adult. Many of my students have a 'fixed mindset' of what they can achieve. I want to remove these boundaries and show them that with science, technology, and creativity the possibilities are limitless. I want to move my students to the 'growth mindset' so they can see all the amazing things they can achieve.
My students are inquisitive and want to explore scientific concepts through a variety of learning experiences and I want to give them as many opportunities as I can.
They are eager to explore science concepts when the experiments and activities are hands on. With that, I want to inspire rigorous, innovative, and authentic achievement through science and technology.
My Project
These materials, including Little Bits and Bloxels, will give my students problem-solving challenges on how to code using different types of technology. When using the Sphero SPRK+ my students will be able to explore the curriculum while learning how to code. For example, the students will create a race track, code the SPRK+, find the distance and time as well as calculate speed. Using this data, the students are able to change different variables to see how friction, angles, or mass will impact their data.
These materials will continue to enhance the classroom environment I strive to create for my students by allowing them to learn at their level and to engage them in their technological curiosity.
