Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These promising students of mine come from the South Bronx, where resources and opportunity are limited. However, they are eager for knowledge and are determined to make it to college.
With high hopes of becoming a Pediatrician, Veterinarian, Accountant, Engineer and so much more.
The scholars in my class are in need of materials that will help them to achieve their ultimate goal. Providing them with these necessary materials will ensure that they have access to a bright future and successful career.
My Project
During the cold months, when outdoor recess is impossible, my students need activities that will engage them. This project will provide them exactly that. With a crochet needle and yarn, students can turn a piece of string into a blanket, a scarf or even a pillow case.
These sewing supplies will teach each student how to be self sufficient, creative and provide them an opportunity to be inventive.
By having these supplies, students will start to see themselves as designers and an entrepreneur. Sewing will also help them in the classroom a they develop a better hand eye coordination and persistence with their task. I truly need your support to make this a reality.
