I teach students in a rural area with more than 50% of the students coming from low-income/high poverty homes. My students are faced with unique challenges both in and out of the classroom. They do not have a lot of life experiences outside of the Village and school. In my classroom, I strive to create a positive learning environment in which they can thrive. I try to bring exciting experiences to them inside the classroom.
My students deserve all that the world has to offer them!
It is an honor to be an integral part of their lives.
My Project
This super-inviting center lets kids relax & get cozy—so it’s easier for them to focus on listening! Who wouldn't want to cozy up with a good book, a child that can't read, that's who!
This listening library will be a safe and inviting place for my most fluent readers as well as my struggling and non readers.
I teach a first grade inclusion class and therefore have students on very different levels. During center time, all students will benefit from this listening library. They will have a cozy place to enjoy books on many different levels. Listening libraries help promote fluency, comprehension, and a love for literature in all readers on all levels.
