My students need an addition to their library! We need books to read as a class, and books to go right onto the shelf of our classroom library. The area also needs a rug.
My classroom is full of excited, fun learners. They come ready for anything, and that means a lot because they all come from so many different lifestyles and home lives. We have a beautiful community of military families whose children attend our school. We have seen our fair share of children being reunited with a parent back from their time of service! Our school borders also include an Indian reservation and many low-income neighborhoods. Our student population also has a high percentage of Hispanics. Here, our students also enjoy 100% free breakfast and lunch.
These kids love to create, investigate, work together, and just learn as much as possible.
One of my favorite parts of this job, as a teacher, is creating learning opportunities for these eager children that come in ready every day. Its so fun!
My Project
I love getting kids excited to read! In the second grade, my job is to get them taking off with books. They have mostly learned to read and are ready to go crazy. This project includes a rug for the library area to help it come alive! Having a good variety for these students to find what they love is so important. I plan to introduce these books at different times of the year and really get them interested.
A love for reading can change their lives forever!
I know this project will put interesting books on the shelf. I also have a few books in this project for read-aloud time. I like to start discussions and activities with fun books! Some of these books are beginning chapter books, which is an important addition to our library in the 2nd grade! This project will impact so many little imaginations, and they need that foundation! My classroom library just needs a little boost for this new school year!
