While my students come from different ethnic backgrounds and varying home lives, when we are together, we are a family with the same goals and aspirations of bettering ourselves. The 30 fourth graders that walk into our classroom every morning are full of joy, excitement, and a passion for learning about this great big world.
It is my aspiration to guide them in the proper direction, opening up their minds and their worlds to new ideas, concepts, and experiences, and allowing them to discover who they are as individuals.
My Project
The amount of time a student spends reading directly relates to their ability to read higher texts fluently. This 52 book collection will give the students a range of genres including fiction and nonfiction titles; the high-interest topics will intrigue the students and encourage them to open and read the texts.
This exclusive AKJ Education collection provides a varied set of books that will add 52 titles to our classroom library!
Familiar series books such as Boxcar Children and The World According to Humphrey will encourage students to read multiple books in the series. The same goes for popular children authors such as Kate DiCamillo and Judy Blume. Once the children read and enjoy one book they will be looking to get their hands on the next one! Five of the books come from the "Who Was?" series; these will add a historical component introducing the students to important figures in our history.
