Our school focuses on a holistic education, teaching everything from math and reading, to music, arts and handwork. Our students come from 14 different school districts, and from about every walk of life, to our grades K through 8. Our demographics are just as diverse with some students coming from families that are financially well off, and others from single parent and lower income homes. They are as diverse as one could imagine, both economically and socially.
As a public charter school, many of our students are those who have struggled to succeed in the regular channels of education.
Being a public school, we accept everyone, regardless of past education, socioeconomic challenges or family income. As such, we have a very high ratio of SPED and high need students in our student body. The majority of our students are succeeding in the orchestra, and are making tremendous progress. However, there are a number of students who are falling behind due to physical or cognitive restrictions.
My Project
The 2018-19 school year marks many new beginnings in our school. Having completed just our second year of being open, our music program and offering are growing. The beginning guitar ensemble is part of our offering for next year.
Everyone deserves an equal opportunity to learn.
But with the cost of instruments, times multiple children enrolled in school, not every family can afford to provide instruments for their children. That's where you come in — your donations are supporting the most needy and vulnerable population at school, and providing quality instruments for students to learn on.
We need guitars and guitar hangers so students can play in order to participate in the guitar ensemble! This will be the first of several projects related to the guitar ensemble. This first project will provide two needy students with a guitar to play and learn with during class. We will continue to build projects as your generosity will allow.
