This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This fall, I have a split classroom of 1st and 2nd grade students. I have 10 first grade students and 13 second grade students, making a total of 23 students. Bryant Elementary , a K-5 school, is composed of 245 students. Most of the students are African American and 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students like all young children like to move!
With very limited outdoor time and exercise, my students are itching to move their body.
My Project
My students would love to be able to do yoga in the classroom. Students would be able to come into the classroom in the morning and use the yoga mats to stretch their bodies before starting their day of learning. The yoga mats will also be used for "brain breaks" when students will be able to get out of their desk and exercise.
My hungry students would also love healthy snacks to eat during the day.
Students would be able to enjoy their snack after exercising on their yoga mat. Students will see an overall improvement in their body, mind, and spirit.
