Keep Calm and Be Zen
My students need markers and Zen coloring books for when we implement our relaxing and calming techniques.
My students range from grades 6th through 8th. Our school has a 81% free or reduced price lunch rate. All of my students have emotional or behavioral disabilities and are in my classroom at least 80% of their day. They are a very outgoing and adventurous group of scholars. They like challenges but also down time to use their imagination and play games of all kinds. They prefer to learn in a number of different ways. They require hands-on materials to enhance their learning experiences.
At times, my students can become irritated very easily due to outside circumstances, other students words or actions, an assignment that may frustrate them, or a simple request from a staff member. When they become frustrated in any of the above mentioned ways my staff and I need a quick way to be able to deescalate a situation quickly and or get them to calm down in a positive way. Communication and processing how we can move forward can only happen once the student is serene.
These markers and Zen coloring books will allow them to calm down in a much quicker and relaxing way.
They prefer markers to colored pencils because they like the vibrant colors they give to a picture.
