This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The school is located in the central-west section in the city. My students are from an urban low income community that, that hosts a population of Hispanics, Africans, African Americans, and other Caribbean nationalities. There are several languages spoken in the community which includes English, Spanish, French and a variety of native languages from Africa. Over forty percent (40%) of the population were born in a foreign country.
My students are as diverse as the community they live in.
They all have special needs and their disabilities include, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities and autism. They are enthusiastic and eager to achieve as their peers would. They learn best when they are engaged with a variety of materials.
My Project
Art is a subject that all our students enjoy. They love learning, exploring, and creating their own art pieces. Art provides our students with that much needed downtime to create and unwind. Art provides our students with a safe space to express their artistic talent.
Art is soothing and relaxing and some of our fondest memories comes from Art; so let us help our students create some great memories.
Let us help our students create happy memories that will stay with them for a lifetime. Let us keep Art Alive at Home.
