This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have good hearts. They have busy lives and come into my room with a smile. We are PIRATES (Prepared, Informed, Responsible, And, Totally, Efficient) this year and it has been amazing.
This focus is our top priority for our students.
We try to get comfortable in the classroom and adapt to what we have and I love them for it. My class is in need of more art supplies. Art has been taken out of the activity department. I want to put it in the classroom.
My Project
Art can be taught with every subject. Students can express themselves with art. Learning math and drawing illustrations can make math real. Reading and producing an image in the form of a diorama of what they have read, sculptures/illustrations using clay, legos, paints, crayons, markers, and play dough bring social studies, science, and literature to life.
STEAM is a big part of our world today.
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math is what makes our students college and career ready.
It's a big world out there and putting everything together will make learning complete. If students can't apply what they have learned from a teacher or a book then they won't remember it. It's the hands-on application that makes it stick.
