My Students
I teach an amazing group of 1st grade students. We are a culturally diverse school with most of students who are English language learners. Despite their challenges, they are very inquisitive and eager to learn.
My school is a Title I school which means most students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
We strive to meet all of their needs as they strive for academic excellence. Their tenacity to learn encourages me to create a fun learning environment so they are actively engaged in learning every day.
My Project
My students need sweaters to meet their essential need of warmth. The sweater will allow them to come to school confident and ready to learn. When people think of Florida they think of tropical warm weather. In reality, we do experience a few cold fronts that leave Floridians shivering if they are not prepared. Several times I have witnessed students walking to school without proper attire for the winter weather. I want all of my students to have warm clothing they can wear so that can walk confidently to school without fear of being cold. There are times when students have stayed home because they didn't have proper attire to stay warm. If every student had a nice warm sweater they would be able to attend school without worrying about the temperature outside.
Attendance plays a big role in academic success.
I want all my students to be confident and successful.
