Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school come from varying levels of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. I absolutely love the diversity! We are very fortunate to be in our second year of offering music to every single student in our population! General music is offered for grades K-4, and Instrumental music for grades 5-6 as part of students' core curriculum. Choir, Ukulele, and Musical Theatre are also offered as extracurricular activities.
In March, our choir will be performing songs like "Kazoo Koncerto" in tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven for a community performance in collaboration with the Pacific Symphony, called ClassAct Family Night!
We would love for 150 colorful kazoos to magically appear as students are performing this fun piece for their families!
My Project
The students in my choir absolutely love to sing, and every now and again, we do love to be silly! What's making music if you're not having a little fun while you're at it?
These colorful kazoos will help our choir make our song "Kazoo Koncerto" come to life, and an orchestra stand and baton will also help some students hone their conducting skills.
These materials will engage students in a way that will make them laugh at themselves and also provide opportunities to practice leadership and work on their 4/4 conducting pattern, as being in front of an ensemble or an audience is no easy task!
