Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach the most precious students you have ever seen. My kiddos are first graders and we love coming to school! There is so much learning, exploring and inquiring to be done, but sometimes we don't always have all the resources we need. Here's where you can help us with that!
School can be a haven for many of my students.
They know when they come into this classroom that they are loved and safe. They know every student counts and every moment matters! These kids are the best in the world! We so appreciate your interest in our classroom. I sincerely thank you for helping make our learning experience the best it can be.
My Project
This project is HISTORY MAKING. Every year I do an Author's Tea, an event where each one of my students selects a piece of writing they've worked on all year revises it, practices it for weeks, dresses up in an outfit that makes them the proudest, and reads it to an audience! I invite EVERYONE- lunch ladies, custodians, the principal, parents, District reps, and more! It is, hands down, my favorite day of the year.
I am a firm believer that EVERY child can write, no matter where they are in school.
Kids that cannot speak English can write. Kids who are in Special Ed can write. Kids who are shy can write. AND THAT IS WORTH CELEBRATING! So, each year I do an Author's Tea in my classroom. Well, this year I wanted to make this event even bigger and better than any year I've done it because my kiddos DESERVE it.
I reached out to our professional theater in town to ask if there was any chance they would let us use their space for my kiddos to read their writing- I knew it was a long shot, BUT THEY SAID YES!! This has never happened before in the history of this theater, so I could not turn this opportunity down! Help us get all the supplies and transportation we need to make this day one my kiddos and their parents will remember for the rest of their lives!
