I have K4 regular education and special education students in an urban, public school. My students have different educational backgrounds. Some students have previous daycare experience and for others, this is their first experience in a structured learning environment. My students are busy learning all day and need a time where they can rest their brains and bodies.
Many of my students do not get enough sleep at night and this rest time is needed for them to be able to regulate their growing brains and bodies.
It is much easier to rest when you feel comfortable and safe.
My K4 students are busy working and learning all day, but they still need downtime to rest their minds and bodies. We have a designated rest time as a chance for these young learners to decompress. When my students are able to slow down and relax they are better able to process what they have learned that day. When students are well-rested they are better able to regulate their emotions and enjoy their time at school learning and interacting with others.
These rest mats will allow my students to be comfortable while resting.
The students will be able to lay on the mats and find a comfortable spot in the room to decompress and take a break.
