My students need new innovative materials to promote their reading and writing skills. The die cuts will allow the students to have letters available to build words and sentences of their choice. This also promotes teamwork.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is in an urban setting where all students get free lunch.
The school is made up of many wonderful cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
Our classroom consists of 22 five and six year old children. On average, most five year olds are very rambunctious and have bubbly, but intense, personalities. Our students ask many questions and are guided by schedules and lots of interaction. Some of our students are just learning their letters, while others are just beginning to read words. We are working on building a kindergarten community that respects one another and works together to make our brains as big as we can! We love to learn!
My Project
The materials in this project will allow my students to utilize new and innovative materials for reading and writing. K2 is a crucial year in education because it is the foundation of academics. Students learn letters, sounds, reading skills, and writing skills in K2 so they need as many tools as they can get.
We want our students to step out of the box and learn in a fresh and fun way!
The book bins will help us display books so that students have the freedom to pick books that suit their reading abilities. The headphones will allow students to listen to stories and follow along. The die cuts will allow teachers to cut out various letters for students to use to build words and sentences.
