Our kindergarten and first graders are a diverse group who are eager to learn. This is what I love about them. With a diverse classroom, I have students who have different learning needs and backgrounds.
As a low performing Title I school, my school has 70% of students performing below grade level in literacy.
Over the past few years, we have had an increased number of students with social, emotional, and attention needs. To add to my differentiated and engaging instruction, I would like to have a classroom community that welcomes all learners.
These magnetic letters will give teachers from kindergarten and first grade classrooms the tools for students to use to create words as students are building knowledge about letters and sounds.
The red vowels and blue consonant letters will help students learn how to read and spell as a multi-sensory tool.
This helps students learn their letters by making connections. Building words gives students a hands on experience to help make connections by using visual and kinesthetic ways of learning words and letters. Teachers use these magnetic letters in small group lessons, but these will provide letters for students to use them independently in their Word Work center.
