My Students
My students are scholars. Full of energy and ready to learn. They understand that hard work pays off and work really hard to please not only me but they want to please themselves.
They are a team in my classroom and understand that we work together for a common goal...to be successful in all that we do.
Cooperative learning is critical and my principal was very impressed at how much progress and teamwork is displayed in our classroom. We are ready to take learning to another level!
My Project
What can build the morals and thinking of a student? When they can read a book about a character that looks like them. My goal is to create experiences in my students' lives that are meaningful. Reading a book can expand the imagination of a student.
Expanding a student's imagination can create critical thinkers as well.
What do you think that character thinking? How does he/she feel about that situation? What would you do if it were you?
Reading books require motivation. Tar Beach and I Love My Hair focuses on the imagination of the characters. This facilitates conversations among classmates and makes reading more exciting.
