Motivated, eager-to-learn, respectful, curious, deserving and generally below grade level.
I love the students I teach.
They are eager to learn but have not always had the opportunity to do so. Many of my students have previously had a bad experience with math, and I want to change their perception. I love math, love to teach math, and love to see students learn. Although the challenge is great, it is worth the effort. Seeing a student go from well below grade level to slightly above is among the greatest rewards a teacher can ask for!
My Project
7th grade math students often begin the year with a negative attitude about math and a less-than positive attitude about their ability to learn and be successful at math.
Math games and activities are a great way to encourage middle school students to keep trying ... and candy treats help make games and activities extra fun.
Although my end goal is to help students enjoy math by helping them feel successful and capable, sometimes providing them with an extra incentive is a great way to moving them along in their pathway towards feeling more positive and excited about their math experience.
